Hi, I’m Debbie Wolfe!

I’m a writer, photographer, and unapologetic crafter with a love for turning “what you already have” into something new, useful, and (yes) a little pretty 🙂
Crafting with Purpose
While I’ve written plenty about DIY projects and home improvement over the years, my true creative joy has always been in crafting—especially with upcycled materials. I’m not someone who chases perfect design trends or glossy finishes. Instead, I take a more MacGyver-style approach: using what’s on hand, finding clever ways to repurpose, and transforming everyday items into something functional and fresh. Want to see some of my professional work? Take a look at my portfolio.
For me, crafting isn’t just about making—it’s about problem-solving, experimenting, and proving that you don’t need a shopping spree at the craft store to create something special.
My Style
I’d call my style “functional first, pretty second.” Everything I make needs to have a purpose, whether that’s storage that works harder, décor that uses scraps and leftovers, or gifts that cost little but mean a lot. That said, I do like things to look nice—it just comes after the usefulness. My projects are approachable, practical, and made for real life.
Books & Writing
I’ve poured a lot of this mindset into my writing as well. I’m the author of two craft/DIY books, both filled with hands-on projects and creative ideas to help others discover the fun of making. Writing has always been another way for me to share what I’ve learned: how to see potential in everyday items, how to adapt projects to your style, and how to enjoy the process instead of stressing over perfection.
A Note on Testing & Tools
Because I also work as a freelance product tester, I also get to try out new tools, materials, and supplies from time to time. While that isn’t the focus of this blog, it does mean I get to share honest, firsthand insights into what works, what doesn’t, and which products can make your crafting life easier.
Why This Blog
This blog is my space to share real-world crafting: the quick wins, the upcycling experiments, the things that work and the things I learned the hard way. I want to inspire others to look around their homes, garages, and recycling bins and think, “What can I make with this?”
You’ll find projects that are simple enough to do in an afternoon, functional enough to use every day, and fun enough to make you want to keep going.
Let’s Make Something
Thanks for visiting my corner of the internet. I hope you leave here inspired to try a project, upcycle something you thought was junk, or just get creative with what’s around you. And if you’re a fellow maker, a curious beginner, or even a brand looking for authentic connections—I’d love to connect.
